This was organised by the European Wind Energy Association EWEA to mark the Global Wind Day on 15 June. From 3 to 15 June the exhibition will display the photos resulting from the Global Wind Day photo competition with the objective to launch the energy debate to discover the stories behind the energy.
This afternoon at the European Parliament, took place the opening ceremony. Maria da Graça Carvalho gave a keynote speech. Her intervention was followed by Thomas Becker, CEO of EWEA, and Jo Leinen MEP.
Global Wind Day is an opportunity for citizens to find out about wind energy. Despite wind energy's ever more significant contribution to the energy supply in an ever-increasing number of countries, many people remain unfamiliar with wind energy: how it works, its impact on the environment and the economy. Global Wind Day is an opportunity for citizens to find out for themselves.
The European Wind Energy Association is the voice of the wind industry, actively promoting wind power in Europe and worldwide. It has over 700 members from almost 60 countries.
