Maria da Graça Carvalho co-hosted with MEP Francoise Grossetête the Seminar "Energy Systems: A World of Equilibrium". This was organised by BP and took place at the European Parliament.
During the opening address Maria da Graça Carvalho acknowledged that "in order to pursue an efficient energy policy, we should restructure and coordinate Europe's energy policy at EU level".
Her intervention was followed by Françoise Grossetête MEP, Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) and Emmanuel Haton, Director BP European Government Affairs.
The seminar: the cost of energy is the outcome of a systemic and delicate equilibrium between offer and demand. Technology, geopolitics, tax revenues, climate policies are as many factors which come into this equation - a shift in one of these terms changes inevitably the whole equation. In this environment, as a global actor, what is the EU's room for manoeuvre to pursue an efficient energy policy?
