Maria da Graca Carvalho's Seminar held in Porto on simplification of rules of participation in current and future programs for Science and Innovation.
The aim of the seminar was to involve European citizens in this debate, ask for their input, answer questions and listen to their opinions.
Last May, Maria da Graca Carvalho was appointed Rapporteur for the simplification of rules of participation in current and future programs for Science and Innovation, "a report that aims to redefine the rules of participation not only in the Research Framework Programme (52,000 million Euros), but in all other programmes of Science and Innovation in order to facilitate participation rates and raise their execution.
The seminar took place in the Hall of General Meetings, the Stock Exchange Palace and was attended by about 100 people including personalities from the academic and business worlds in the north of the country.
Before turning to the debate, Maria da Graca Carvalho presented the Programmes for Science and Innovation in the European Union, their capabilities and potentials, the main problems of the Framework Programmes, the relevance of the programme concerning simplification, the report "Simplification of European Programs Science and Research " and the main lines of action to be taken in order to improve the 8PQ.
The seminar was chaired by Councillor for Knowledge and Social Cohesion in the Municipality of Porto Wilhelmina Rego, and by MEPs Paulo Rangel and Maria da Graca Carvalho (see picture).
In Lisbon there will be a second seminar with the same theme on July 9 in the Grand Hall of IST between 15.00 and 17.30.
