Maria da Graça Carvalho met in her office at teh European Parliament, the Scottish Government Minister for Culture and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop. Ms Hyslop wanted to meet Ms Carvalho as a member of the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and rapportuer of the report on simplifying the implementation of the research framework programmes.
Ms Hyslop has responsibility for Scotland's international interests and Research and Creativity have been identified as a priority. Also, Scotland has a strong science tradition. The Scottish Government is currently working with partners from the academic, business and public sector in Scotland to develop responses in relation to EU developments such as the EU2020 strategy, Innovation Union and the future of the Framework Programmes.
Ms Hyslop and Ms Carvalho discussed the report on simplification, the EU2020 and Innovation Union.
