Maria da Graça Carvalho was invited to participant in the launch of the European Workplace Innovation Network event that took place today in the European Parliament. During her intervention, Ms Carvalho spoke about how to support workplace innovation under Horizon 2020. Horizon 2020 rapporteur also said support was needed for new forms of innovation, particularly those that were non-technological that would sit under the Industrial Leadership pillar of the framework programme.

The European Commission in its reinforced EU Industrial Policy adopted on 10 October 2012 has made workplace innovation a priority to boost competitiveness of our economy. The launch of the European Workplace Innovation Network - organised by EUWIN with the support of the European Parliament, was the first step towards the promotion, resourcing and up scaling of the concept and use of the workplace innovation on the continent.

The aim of the first panel was to showcase the influence of workplace innovation on the overall performance of companies and discuss the support for this type of innovations. The second part of the event was devoted to the EUWIN role and included a presentation of the Network and active participation and input from the audience.

The launch event brought together some 100 business managers and policy makers to discuss the best ways to organise EUWIN and further make the case for advanced workplaces in Europe.
