Maria da Graça Carvalho participated as a speaker in The European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences -EUFEPS- Executive Committee meeting that was held in Brussels.
EUFEPS was established in 1991 and celebrated its 20th Anniversary, last year. EUFEPS´s objective is to "advance sciences for better medicines and health". For example, EUFEPS initiated the New Safe Medicines Faster (NSMF) Project 10+ years ago, which became the forerunner of the IMI, where EUFEPS is also active in Education and Training Project Consortia primarily.
The aim of the meeting included to look into the future - where are things today and what are the needs and what is being planned or expected to happen in the years to come?
During her intervention, Maria da Graça Carvalho presented the European Framework Programme for research and innovation HORIZON2020, and spoke about the place of the EU in a Multipolar World of S&T, Europe 2020, Horizon 2020: Financing Instrument implementing the "Innovation Union", Synergies between the FP and the Structural Funds, Simplification of the European research and innovation programmes, and the European Research Area.
In the conclusions Ms Carvalho said that the EU research and innovation brings "unique responses to address Europe's societal challenges whilst stimulating growth and jobs".
Among the speakers also there were Mary Baker (Patient Perspective), Elmar Nimmesgern (DG Research and Innovation) and Fatiha Sadallah (IMI Office).
