Maria da Graça Carvalho joined other members of the European Parliament in an initiative aimed at safeguarding multilingualism in the institutions, signing an open letter addressed to the Presidents of the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council.
In the letter, MEPs recognize the quality of the interpretation and translation services, available in 24 languages. However, they recall the need to ensure good working conditions and reasonable workloads for interpreters and translators, and respect for the code of conduct for multilingualism, in line with the principles of “resource efficient full multilingualism”.
