Maria da Graça Carvalho took part today in a High-Level Seminar on Public Sector Innovation organised by the Bureau of European Policy Advisers at the Berlaymont, in Brussels. The President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso made opening remarks.
The aim of the seminar was to discuss what the European Commission and Member States can do to help the public sector to innovate more. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Esther Duflo of MIT, an eminent young French economist who advises President Obama and is an expert on experimenting with and rigorously evaluating social policies.
