Maria da Graça Carvalho hosted the exhibition Made in Europe - ICT building blocks tackling societal challenges that took place between 8 and 10 October 2012 at the European Parliament.
The event illustrated how research contributes to real-life health, sustainability and mobility applications and services.
The Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes gave the keynote speech at the opening ceremony. The welcome addresses were given by the host Maria da Graça Carvalho (see speech here) and Amalia Sartori, Chair of the ITRE Committee.
Nine exhibits tried to showcase how information and Communication Technologies (ICT) promote growth and jobs in Europe while addressing societal challenges in the areas of health, sustainability and mobility. On display there were tangible results of European research and innovation projects.
