Maria da Graça Carvalho attended the High-Level Working Dinner on Maximising the Potential of the Digital Economy: Driving Growth and Innovation organised by the Lisbon Council. This took place in Brussels.

World-renowned author and innovation thought leader Don Tapscott kicked off the discussion with a penetrating look at the way leading companies and countries are leveraging the economic potential of digital technologies. Even in the crises, Europe´s digital economy has grown considerably making it the natural antidote to overcome years of low growth and rising unemployment. His observations formed a timely contribution in the preparatory period for the October European Council dedicated to the digital economy and innovation.

The goal of the dinner was to generate new thinking and insight on how to unleash the growth and employment potential of the Internet and digital technologies. Paul Hoheinz, President of the Lisbon Council, was the moderator.
