Maria da Graça Carvalho participated as a speaker in the the 4th Transatlantic Think Tank Conference which took place in Washington DC on the 17th and 18th of July, 2013.
The conference was organized together by The Centre for European Studies (CES), the political foundation of the European People's Party, the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the Hudson Institute.
Ms. Carvalho participated on the second day of the Conference in Workshop 2 - A Transatlantic Agenda for Growth and Jobs. With the recently announced negotiations for a Transatlantic Free Trade Area, how big would the gains really be? What are the domestic obstacles to such an agreement and could it be used as a springboard for reviving the Doha round of multilateral trade talks? The moderator of the workshop was Olof Ehrenkrona; and the other speakers were Raymond Gradus, Director, CDA Research Institute; Justin McCarthy, Former Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs and Assistant United States Trade Representative for Congressional Affairs.
