From 18 to 20 October 2011, COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology, will organise a creative exhibition for its 40th birthday at the European Parliament in Brussels, hosted by MEP Pilar del Castillo Vera, member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE).
The exhibition opened today with a reception where Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament, provided a message. Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science; Dr Ángeles Rodríguez-Peña, President of the COST Committee of Senior Officials, and MEP Pilar del Castillo Vera, delivered keynote addresses.
Through display panels with COST Action examples, the exhibition will showcase how COST connects young and experienced European scientists, academic institutions, big and small industries and international organisations and how COST has contributed to an innovative Europe for over 40 years. On 19 October 2011, the exhibition focuses on 'Preserving our planet!' while 'Smart cities and the future of communications' and 'Biomedicine & healthy living' are put in the spotlight by invited experts and COST Office Science Officers on 20 October 2011. Quizzes and videos will liven up the exhibition as well.
