Press PS, PSD and BE question Brussels on the new incident at Almaraz nuclear power plant
PS, PSD and BE MEPs questioned the European Commission on the assessment of recent incidents at the Almaraz nuclear power plant, O Jornal Económico online reports. MEP Carlos ZORRINHO (S&D, PT) said that the information on this issue should be known. MEPs Lídia PEREIRA (EPP, PT), Paulo RANGEL (EPP, PT), Maria da Graça CARVALHO (EPP, PT) and Álvaro AMARO (EPP, PT) want to know if the Portuguese government has taken any steps to close the nuclear power plant. MEPs Marisa MATIAS (GUE/NGL, PT) and José GUSMÃO (GUE/NGL, PT) want to know whether the Commission will put pressure on Spain to close the nuclear plant if there is a failure. Finally, MEP Francisco GUERREIRO (Greens/EFA, PT) wants to know if the nuclear power plant can continue working until 2028.
