The EU has launched a new network to help further develop the European Union as an innovation hub.
DG Enterprise and Industry launched the Workplace and Innovation Network (EUWIN) at the European Parliament in Brussels. The initiative will provide businesses and policy makers with new knowledge of the benefits of workplace innovation to assist the development of an innovation culture in the EU.
The launch was attended by Antti Peltomäki, vice director general from DG ENTR, who said EUWIN was the "first concrete deliverable of the enhanced industrial policy" from the European Commission. Last autumn, the Commission committed to "establishing a learning network on workplace innovation in Europe to promote labour productivity and the quality of jobs."
Also in attendance was Horizon 2020 rapporteur Maria da Graça Carvalho, who said support was needed for new forms of innovation, particularly those that were non-technological that would sit under the Industrial Leadership pillar of the framework programme.
