Maria Graça Carvalho announced a package of amendments directed to improving the response capability of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), Dinheiro Vivo Online reports. The amendments were introduced over the proposal of the European Commission and have received the support of all political families in the European Parliament. In a public statement, the MEP stated: “We respect the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), but we believe that, in the present situation, the introduction of specific goals may be beneficial. The EIT Health KIC may play a relevant role in the global effort that, at this time, is occurring all over Europe, and for the development of a vaccine and of therapies.” As to the Digital KIC, the MEP stated that “it has a very important role to play in the development of innovative solutions in the present situation. For work, learning, teaching, communication, and also in the development of safety tools for electronic trade.”
