In an opinion article in Dinheiro Vivo Online, MEP Graça Carvalho writes about the removal of the STEP project from the Commission’s 4th list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI). The STEP project, which aimed at building the third gas interconnection between Portugal, Spain, and France, was removed from the PCI list in October 2019. MEP Carvalho explains that this was a bilateral decision by France and Spain, lamenting that the Portuguese government did not fight against this change. MEP Carvalho accuses France and Spain of using Portugal as a pawn. The Portuguese MEP informs that the PSD delegation in the European Parliament already asked the Commission for “urgent clarification” on this alteration.
