Maria da Graça Carvalho participated in the lunch debate hosted by Chris Davies MEP, on the future of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and its role in climate mitigation in developing countries, that took place in the European Parliament.
Among the participants there was Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC), Henry Derwent, CEO & President of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), and Jos Delbeke (DG CLIMA, EU Commission)
During the debate there was an exchange of views between the UNFCCC, the EU Commission the IETA and the participant on the future of the Clean Development Mechanism.
Maria da Graça Carvalho gave her contributions on how to improve the CDM in view of the next protocol and also for the negociations for the next COP that will take place in Durban.
